EVENTS CALENDAR
*If you are planning to attend one of our events, please read all of the information on this page.*
Social Nights: Every Saturday night we have a social/pot luck dinner. On occasion we have guest speakers and special visitors. However, social night will be cancelled if Longhouse members are away on business. (You can email us to confirm)
Some of our events are not posted on this page. Certain ceremonies, meetings and gatherings are for Longhouse members only and will be posted for information only, so that people are aware in advance when we are not available (They will be posted as "Internal Longhouse Business"). There are also a number of last minute requests that come in which we do not have time to post. The majority of our events are open to all. Please email us if you have questions about our events. Note: Many of the events posted are not hosted or organized by us. We often receive invitations as presenters/speakers at a number of events. We have listed some events for your information only.
IMPORTANT:
Out of respect for our Mother Earth we ask anyone attending events at the Longhouse to bring reusable dishes, cups & dinnerware to use and take home. Please do not bring or donate styrofoam or any similar material that is harmful to Mother Earth. Nia:wen'ko:wa! |
NOTE to Friends/Visitors:
Out of respect for our gatherings, please do your best to arrive on time.
A majority of the events hosted at the Longhouse are held outdoors. Please dress appropriately for the weather (footwear, clothing, sun protection, etc...).
It is optional to bring a portable chair or blanket for outdoor events. We do not have electricity or plumbing on the grounds, however, there are outdoor toilets and a well (pump) for water access.
We put a lot of time and care into maintenance of the Longhouse Grounds, so please respect the area. There are a lot of areas designed for children, however, some areas are not appropriate for play so kindly keep an eye on your little ones (Out of bounds: tower, work-out area, stable).
Pets/Animals: Please do not bring pets or animals to the Longhouse unless you have been given permission.
Food: It is impossible to predict the number of people that will be present at the ceremonies/gatherings therefore in order to ensure that there is enough food & drinks for everyone, we all contribute something. You can bring food, snacks, or drinks to share or donate money to the women for food. As a general rule, bring enough for yourself and your family/companions and a little extra. Please do your best to bring healthy food! We do not generally prepare vegetarian or vegan meals so if you follow this type of diet ensure that you have food prepared for yourself.
